Off to Mae La Oon!

Tomorrow morning, bright and early (4 am), we are off to the Mae La Oon Refugee Camp (the first of BWU’s five regions where they have active programs). At the Camp, we will be conducting interviews for our research project, visiting the local Karen high school and hang out in the nursery school where GlobeMed has funded nutritional lunches for the kids for the past year. We allocated USD $250 of our campaigns earnings to be spent in Thailand to buy nursery school supplies. Last Saturday, Naw Lay Dee, Rachel, Rachael and Dandi went shopping at a Muslim school supply superstore. They had everything we wanted and it was quite inexpensive–20 baht for each item!

Here’s to hoping we don’t get caught in a rainstorm on our 9+ hour car ride to the camp! We won’t have internet at Mae La Oon, but we’ll update you all on our adventures when we are back in Mae Sot on July 1 😀
